Marilyn
Lee Ayres
Marilyn
was born and raised in Kirkland
Lake, Ontario as Marilyn Lee
Fairhurst. She currently resides
in Cambridge, Ontario with her
family.
Preparation
for her first novel, Inheritance
of Gold, was a project of
love. The fact that this work
even exits should serve as an
inspiration to everyone as Marilyn
suffered a closed head injury in
1990. This resulted in the loss
of much of her memory, reading
and writing skills, math, and a
great deal more. As the injury
was to the left hemisphere of
the brain, it resulted the right
side, the creative side, to
become dominant.
Fifteen
months of intense therapy, six
hours a day, three times a week;
her determination; her will to
survive; and the help of a
caring therapist; allowed
Marilyn to slowly but surely
progress… to the point of
writing "Inheritance Of
Gold," her first venture
into the professional writing
world. Her efforts were rewarded
by the Independent Publishers
Association with an "Honourable
Mention for Eastern Canada"
in their IPPY Awards for 2005.
Like
Inheritance of Gold,
Marilyn's latest novel, Hanna's
Silence, is set in
Kirkland Lake in the 1940s. In addition to
writing, she is a talented
painter and wire artist.
